Seintje Privacy Policy

Seintje is an app by Sefaja that tells you when something official is going on at the places you save. This policy describes what data that needs. The principle is simple: we sell nothing, we ask for no account, and we keep no more than we need to give you a heads-up.
No account
You can use Seintje entirely without an account. We ask for no name, no email address and no phone number, and we do not tie your usage to a personal profile.
What we process
Your saved places
The places you save (for example "Home" or "Holiday house") live on your own device. To look up what is going on, we send the coordinates of the place you are viewing to our server. There they are used only to determine which province that place is in; the answer you get back concerns that province.
Notifications
If you turn notifications on, we store a push token for your device, together with the provinces of your saved places and the alert kinds you have switched off. That is what lets us notify you only about your own places rather than the rest of the country. If you turn notifications off or delete the app, the token stops working and we remove it.
What we do not process
We do not track your location in the background, we keep no history of where you have been, and we use no analytics or tracking services in the app.
We sell nothing
We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. There is no data trading, no resale to advertisers and no profiling.
The free version may show an advertisement in future; Seintje Plus is ad-free. Once advertising is actually active, this page will state which party supplies it and what data is processed. That is not the case today.
Where your data lives
Data is held with our hosting provider in a data centre inside the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Notification delivery runs through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, which requires your device's push token.
How long we keep it
Push tokens and their associated provinces are kept for as long as you have notifications switched on. Alerts themselves are kept as history, but they are not linked to you.
Your rights
Because there is no account, you can do almost everything yourself: remove a place in the app, switch notifications off, or delete the app. If you want to know what is attached to your push token, or want it deleted, email info@sefaja.nl. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
About the sources and the content
Seintje bundles information from public sources published by government bodies, water authorities, safety regions and comparable institutions. We do our best to present it correctly and currently, but no rights can be derived from the information in Seintje. The source's own official publication always prevails, and every alert links to it. Use Seintje as a heads-up, not as legal proof.
If you administer a source and we are using it wrongly — because the use is not permitted or the licence does not allow it — let us know at info@sefaja.nl and we will remove it.
Changes
If something material changes, we will update this policy and the date at the top.
